As your friend and fellow momma, I'm here to share my raw, honest journey from pregnancy to postpartum.
Discover what worked for me, what didn't, and everything in between - the good, the bad, and the hilariously unexpected!
In my opinion, this is the best trimester of pregnancy if I had to choose one! 🙂 The second trimester covers weeks 13-26. During the second trimester, any nausea you may have experiences in the 1st trimester will typically subside due to the leveling out of hormones. You may begin to feel little movements from baby and you will definitely begin to show a little bump. By the end of the 2nd trimester, your baby will be around 13-16 inches long and weigh about 2-3 lbs. This is the trimester I felt my absolute best. Below are some tips to support you during the 2nd trimester of pregnancy.
Perhaps the most important thing to prepare during pregnancy is a birthing plan. What do you want your birth to look and feel like? Doing research on all your options is key to making an informed decision when the time comes to decide on a hospital birth, birth center birth, or home birth. checkout what a #doula is, what a #midwife does, what are the risks and benefits of a medicated vs, #unmedicatedbirth birth, etc. This is an experience that you and your baby go through together, be intentional about being informed on the options you have when it comes to giving birth.
By this time, that baby bump is beginning to show and your body may need some extra support at night to feel comfortable. There are soooo many body pillow styles out there but I truly believe this one is the BEST! I am going to hold on to this forever! The pillow is adjustable so it allows you to build the type of support you need without being too bulky. You can also use your regular pillow for your head to avoid any neck issues.
@perfectsupplements has a great hydrolyzed collagen that is grass-fed and certified glyphosate residue free. I liked to add collagen to my one cup of coffee for the day or a morning fruit smoothie for some added protein. great for hair, nails, supporting joint health and metabolism.
A Yeti water bottle is an investment but this one is SO worth it, especially considering the importance of staying hydrated. I loved this style of Yeti because the ice lasts for sooooo long keeping your water nice and icy fresh. Plus it is easy to throw in the dishwasher, and does not spill. During labor I switched out the top of the water bottle to this straw attachment and it worked perfectly! This is my go-to plus there are so many fun colors! Finding time to get outside and move your body during the second trimester is mood boosting and healthy for you and baby.
As your belly begins to grow, your skin will begin to stretch. Bringing moisture to the skin will help with itchiness and stretch marks. I really liked @earthmamaorganics belly butter for the clean ingredients and affordable price.
